EveryYearMatters
Privacy policy
Draft dated October 7, 2026
This policy explains what EveryYearMatters ("EYM", "we") collects, why, and the choices you have. We collect as little as we can, we never sell your information, and we treat anything about your parent with extra care.
What we collect
- What you give us: your email address, your first name if you choose to share it, and which guide you picked.
- Purchases: what you bought and when. Card details are handled by our payment provider; we never see or store your full card number.
- How you found us: the link you arrived from (for example which post or keyword), stored in a cookie and with your subscriber record, so we can tell which content actually helps people.
- Site activity: a random visitor id cookie and a small number of events, such as viewing a page or opening a guide.
Information about your parent
Some future tools, such as our planning assessment, may ask about your parent's health, living situation or plans. That is sensitive information about someone else. We will collect only what the tool needs, explain why before we ask, store it with access controls, and never sell or share it. EYM is not a HIPAA-covered entity, but we intend to treat this data with that level of care. [VERIFY with counsel: state consumer health data laws, such as Washington's My Health My Data Act]
How we use it
- To send the guide you asked for and give you access to your library.
- To send our newsletter (about three emails a week). Every email has an unsubscribe link.
- To send receipts and sign-in links.
- To understand which posts and guides are useful, in aggregate.
Cookies
- Necessary: a sign-in cookie for your library.
- Attribution: a visitor id, a first-visit source cookie (kept 90 days) and a latest-visit source cookie (kept 30 days).
- We do not use advertising pixels on this draft site. If we add them, we will update this policy and ask for consent where the law requires it. [VERIFY with counsel]
Who we share it with
Only the service providers that run the site for us: email delivery, newsletter, payments and hosting. They may use your information only to provide that service. We do not sell or rent your information.
Your choices and rights
- Unsubscribe from emails at any time with one click.
- Ask us to see, correct or delete your information by emailing hello@everyyearmatters.com.
- Depending on your state, you may have additional rights (for example under California law). [VERIFY with counsel: CCPA/CPRA and other state privacy laws]
How long we keep it
We keep subscriber and purchase records while you are a subscriber or customer, and as long as needed for tax and legal reasons. [VERIFY: retention periods]
Children
This site is for adults. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13.
